Time flies, especially when you’re traveling, cleaning up after a state of emergency and hysterically laughing at the crazy people around you.
Summer is just about over, the fall season is slowly rolling in and while normally I would be jumping for joy about the refuge that comes with the 60 degree weather and changing colors, I’m a little blown away by how quickly the hazy, crazy, lazy days of summer have passed. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am overjoyed about the prospect of pulling out my boots, sweaters and scarves all while drinking some apple cider but this summer was fun and offered me a lot of laughs and time to relax.
I’m not going to lie, the summer of 2014 wasn’t all great for me, but I’m choosing to focus on all of the fun, relaxing and wonderful things that happened. I spent time wandering around the Detroit Zoo looking for animals that seemed to be hibernating, had countless lunches and coffee dates with friends, traveled to Minneapolis, spent four days exploring Holland and drinking beer with my favorite women, celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday with a surprise party in my backyard with family, spent 6 days in the U.P. with my parents staring at a lake and slot machines, had a ridiculously great time on this year’s girls weekend, danced at my cousin’s wedding and spent hours working in our yard.
All of this time spent laughing, relaxing, talking and reflecting really made me realize how important my family is to me and how incredibly lucky I am to have people that I can laugh with and go to when I need someone to build me up or pass on some support. One lucky girl I am.
So as my favorite season begins to take shape in front of us, I’m going to make it my mission to continue this theme into my life as it gets busier and the seasonal affect disorder sets in.
Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Do something for yourself this weekend!
