Imagine my surprise while I was lounging on the couch late one evening this week to realize that I had been nominated for another award! I have no idea where awards originate from and most of the time I am completely unaware of what they mean. This particular award is pretty straight forward. Kate from Life & Writings of a Barefoot Momma nominated me for the Entertainer Blogger Award. Let’s face it, that’s pretty awesome. While, normally I wouldn’t consider myself an entertainer, it’s true that my hope is for you, my reader, to be engaged and enjoy my writing. If that is the least bit true, than I’ll consider it a success. So, thank you Kate for nominating me, it is truly an honor to be considered entertaining!
Here are the rules: Display the award image on your blog, answer the three questions below in a post, thank the person that nominated you, and nominate 12 other blogs.
Why did you start the blog in the first place?
I can’t remember where the original thought came from, but I’ve always felt like I’ve had more to say than what can fit in a FB status update, heaven forbid a tweet. I cannot survive on 140 characters. Writing has always been something I take pride in. I still remember the very first paper I wrote in college, I spent two weeks editing and rewriting that paper and felt so much pride when it was done. I wanted to share it with anyone that would read it. I suppose a blog does that in the digital age. This blog started as “Still Standing” – I put it together shortly after Justin’s first occurance of his lymphoma, I had felt like our little family had taken a blow and was working on rebuilding our lives again. It had been a tough year, but we were still standing.
What is your favorite book?
I always have a hard time answering this question. I only started reading for pleasure in the last 10 years. It is hardly something that I do on a consistent basis. I like stories that are easy to read and keep up with. I don’t like to work while I’m reading, I’m a visual person and can lose focus easily. If only adult fiction were depicted with pictures like your standard infant/toddler board book…
What is your favorite pastime activity?
This is a good question! I enjoy anything that allows me to be creative and use my mind. Writing, doodling, crafting, organizing, and sometimes…cooking. Sometimes. If we’re talking about the activity that is my favorite overall – that would be relaxing by a lake, preferably in northern Michigan. I think that could hardly be described as a pastime though.
The Bloggers I Nominate: Crazy Sober Girl, Making Time for Me, Not the Average Mama, Plankful, The Texan’s View of Upstate New York, The Richness of a Simple Life, and any other blogger that reads this!
I’m off gallivanting with ladies today so I think that deserves the #2, 3, 4, and 5 spot for this High Five for Friday! I hope your week was good to you and your weekend is even better!
